    1100 4V ignition timing

Had the engine apart for some other maintenance and I reinstalled the ignition signal generator on the right end of the crank. Now I have to set and adjust the timing. My service manual calls for 12 degrees BTDC below 1500rpm and 32 degrees BTDC above 2350rpm. That's great but my ignition advancer isn't marked in degrees - it has the standard marks of |T, |F, 1-4, |. I assume the second "|" next to the "F" is the 12 degrees BTDC mark. So then, is the third "|" to the right of the "1-4" suppose to be the 32 degrees BTDC mark?? How do you guys get the timing set correctly?? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that's correct. The "T" mark is top dead center, "F" mark is idle advance and that third mark is full advance. My advancer had only one mark on the 2-3 side so I asked a question in this thread: http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=180941

I timed mine statically and using a timing gun. The static procedure was easy and nearly spot on. I used this guide from Dyna: http://www.powercommander.com/downlo.../DS3-1_3-2.pdf

    My advancer just like yours:

Thanks Missile. That's what I figured. Since I have the Dyna Super Pro ignition I static timed the ignition too. Then I set my initial timing to the "| F" mark with my timing light. Hmmm? Has anybody ever run an engine with a degree wheel on it to verify that you are actually getting the timing in degrees that the service manual calls for?
