Wiring harness interchange
I have a 1981 GS1000GX - the wiring harness (Part # -36610-45150) for that model has been discontinued. I located a 1980/1981 GS1000GT (part # -36610-45132) wiring harness. Will this wiring harness work on my GS1000GX. Thank you for your help.Tags: None

I'm going to stick my neck out on this one.
Considering the 36610-45131 (36610-45130 RB> 36610-45131 RB> 36610-45132) fits a 1980 GS1000G AND the 1980~81 GS850G, I can't think of a single reason it won't fit in place of the 1981 GS1000G harness.
There might be a few minor differences possibly a ground connection, or a dust boot, but in my minds eye I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.

Thanks Rustybronco, I thought the same. I pulled up wiring diagrams on my model and it will display the T model. also I researched some web sites and the decription between the two models is more cosmetic, (rear turn signals). Again thank you.

1981 GS50 and 1000G models both use rectangular turn signals.
Let me put it to you this way, if I'm wrong, the 1980 GS1000G harness I'm rebuilding to ship to South Africa isn't going to do a lot of good to the owner of a certain 1981 GS1000G...
You're welcome.

I put a 1980 G harness on my 1981 G. The only difference is the running lights on the front of the 1981. I wired them up to the headlight circuit. The PO had made modifications I didn't care for, and I sourced a good used one here on this list.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things
