Here are the instructions for the Dyna-S. Your ignition works the same way. You should find a white and a black wire with female connectors for a bullet connector in a rubber boot that is opened on one end left side of the bike under the seat in front of the battery box. The white one goes to coil 1-4 and the black to coil 2-3. Connect your blue wire to the white and your black to black. The remaining wire (white or yellow can't tell in the picture) would connect to the orange/white wire (switched 12V) going to the coils. Dyna supplies an extension wire to reach one of the orange/white coil wires. It doesn't matter which coil because they split in the harness real near the coils. You will have to make your own. That should do it. I got confused on wiring color previously, so ignore those posts. http://www.dynaonline.com/skins/down.../DS3-1_3-2.pdf

      To the original poster.
Do you know if the unit you're trying to install even works?

ok sooo ive found a blue and white and a black and white wire which match the colour of the 2 shorter wire from the r c unit do i unplug these and plug in the ones from the r c unit in the pic the blue and white is on the left and the black and white is on the right

ive also got the coils that was on the same bike as the r c eng unit which have matching wire colour to the r c unit

im still not sure what im doing soooo if you can explane in real simple terms that would be great

Those are the wrong wires, they are White/Blue and Black/White. You are looking for solid color wires, not wires with a colored tracer stripe. You should be finding wires that are unplugged With female ends on them. Look at that Red wire behind the Green/White one. Notice the burnt spot under the translucent connector cover. That is typical for these bikes and indicates you need to go through the entire wiring harness and clean or replace the burnt connectors, clean all connectors, plugs and switches coating all connections with dielectric grease. You also need to go through the stator papers to check out your charging system for possible damage.

I'm really confused now. You showed a turn signal control unit off of an earlier model bike '78-'79, but you have CV carburetors on this bike indicating it is an '80 or later model that did not have that TSCU module. What year is your bike before we all go chasing our tails?

the bikes a 1978 and i cant see/find any unpluged wires with female ends. i take it that the blue and black wire from the r c unit wouldent go straight to the coils? im really at a loss now as to what ive got me self into and hope one of you guys can help sort this

Well they do, but someone has changed the wiring harness and the carburetors. Unwrap the tape going to the coils and see if the wires are long enough to reach the R. C. Eng harness. The coils should be hanging under the frame above the motor. The harness should run below the right side of the transmission cross to the other side of the bike behind the transmission and up to that boot where the coil plugs should be. You might have to make some jumper wires to reach.

Pagan, i can see what must be a little confusing is that you are dealing with three sets of wire colors, however from the information you already have you should be able to figure this out. Old vet has researched and found that the connections are the same as a dyna s. so you should be able to figure out which wire colors on your RC match the Dyna S colors. There are only three wires. Old vet also described the connectionos between the rc and the coils. Again there are only three wires.
                  On the gs:
switched +12v is O/W and is what goes to both coil(+)
                  1-4 coil (-) is W
                  2-3 coil (-) is B/Y
All these connections are under the gas tank near the coils.
So in the simplistic terms the rc only connects to the coils except that both rc and coils need the same o/w switched power which comes from the harness.
I suggest you draw a simple diagram to sort this out.

Look at the front of the motor and see if there is a tab in the front of the head in the middle, in line with the exhaust with a bolt coming up from the bottom. If it does, it is a newer motor. The '78 did not have that bolt, they changed that '79 and later. Don't worry, the motor numbers and the frame numbers never matched from the factory. So for future reference your bike is '78 with an '80 or later motor without the Suzuki electronic ignition, but fitted with the older mechanical advance of the '79 and earlier bikes. You might want to put that in your signature so when you post everyone will know your basic wiring and brake setup but they will also know your carburetors are the CV type and not the VM type that came on the '78.
