Help with vinyl tubing closure/staking method

Need opinions on the easiest (best?) way to seal the end of clear PVC tubing covering the factory bullet style wire terminals.

Should I use...

Heat alone?
MEK plus heat?
Chemical adhesive plus pressure?

Any other suggestions you might have?

Note*** not interested in Vintage Connectors barrel terminal coverings as those are not technically correct.

If they are clean and perfect, why not just seal them with heat shrink tubing? Or, if you want to be able to undo them easily some day, just pack them with Dielectric grease?

If you are just wanting to do the end that goes over the wire, I believe the factory used a heated crimp tool. Not sure what YOU could use, though.

Unless someone comes up with an idea I haven't thought about, I'll make a device to heat them.

Looking to replace them because they're burnt and (or) very dirty.

The plan is to replace all the corroded bullet connectors with new and because of that, you have to replace the sleeves as well.

No heat shrink. Factory wasn't so they won't be either.

Almost certainly the clear jackets were heat sealed. Should be reasonably easy to make a steel clamshell tool to replicate the factory method. Sounds like a fun project.

Before you cut off the factory bullets though I'd investigate cleaning them first. I dipped some terminals in some diluted HCl and the solution brightened the terminals right up. You can use scotchbrite to shine them up as well. Some baking soda to neutralize the acid would be a wise choice, although I didn't do that on mine, just a water rinse. I also pinched down the female receptacles as well. Saw a significant drop in voltage loss in my charging system after doing this work on the positive side of the circuit on the way to the battery.
