I did some reading on this site and then purchased a new stator and r/r unit. Now I can't get the starter to engage and get it started. Did some more reading and thought the starter relay was bad. Got a new one still the same thing. I bridge the two terminals and the starter kicks in. On the stator and r/r I connected the yellows to yellow, the ground to the battery, and the red to the red that the old r/r units were connected to. I know they are two different systems but can one make the other not work or is this a starting problem? Help please!
I am coming to find out , with a little ingenuity it is absolutely possible to get a flat tire from miswiring the horns.

I remember someone else asking "It is possible to have problems when just one wire is out of place?"

Don't these people know that without all the wires there will be in insufficient store of smoke in the circuits which is how the electrons figure out where to go?Juts be careful to not get a smoke leak.

LOL I just spent ten minutes trying to put a solenoid in his mouth. Can't find my Wacom pen though ?

"......is this a starting problem? "

yeah, until bike starts you can't test charging system! You "bridged the two terminals" ,as in the two big terminals?? Have you tried using jumper wire from battery positive terminal to trigger wire connection (green/white wire) on solenoid? This bypasses everything (key switch, starter button, kill switch, clutch safety switch). If solenoid and starter motor still doesn't kick in, make sure solenoid frame has a good ground connection before you pronounce it NG.

Looks like we kicked a hornets nest . The sparks at work sometimes mumble - red to red green to green and blue to bits !. SMOKENNNNNN

Check the ground to the solenoid mounting plate. It will not work without it. It is the negative part of the circuit.

Made a ground wire and connected the negative side of the battery and the solenoid mounting screw and it fired right up. Must have something to do with connecting the r/r ground to the battery and not the electrical component panel. That is the only thing that changed on the electrical panel when I put the new stator and r/r units on the bike. I'll leave that one to those that know. Gone riding, Later

I believe the mounting plate is isolated from the frame ground with rubber grommets. That is why the black with white stripe wire with a terminal ring was attached to ground it.
