    81 GS650 GLX - 3 wire Signal Generator

Needing help figuring out where the 3rd wire (G/Y) connects.

I can find a 3 wire colored diagram that Cliff has out there, but they don’t have the actual color and I’m not “missing” a wire on the ignitor.
The non colored diagrams that have the wire code are not the same color codes.

    Thanks.

The g/y wire connects to oil pressure sender with a spade lug...other end is the bullet that you show

I may not have been clear... I believe you are referring to “other” end at the signal generator? I was referring to what the bullet end connects to.
From you have stated, i believe the spade end, at the S.G., connects to the oil pressure switch and from there, through the bullet end, goes up to the light.
If that is the case, then I need to run a wire back up to that light and connect it to the bullet end. Or, do something else to notice when I get low oil pressure.

The bullet end connector shown in your pic connects to the spade on the oil pressure sender. This is a grounding path- no oil pressure, sender grounds out,and oil light comes "on". Note that this engine is plain bearing style and runs at high oil pressure, likely in 50 psi range. I suspect the sender triggers in 10 psi range, but I haven't tested one.

          as Tom said,

          ...that yes, as you say
from there, through the bullet end, goes up to the light
This is a crop of the wiring diagram GS650- "bullet connectors" are shown, spade end not so well

here's the whoe circuit I uploaded it as full size but it's still not awful plain.. the oil lamp takes "+" from the Orange/green stripe fused circuit

Got it. Thanks for that. What a dumb idea and place to ground the that circuit. 100+ spots to ground prior to getting to the spade end.
Anyway, that explains the left over wire. Good to know.
