need help identifying a wiring harness

Hi, I got this loom for my bike a while ago for my GS1000G but it doesn't fit, they said it was for a 1980's GS1000G, but I got it from the USA maybe they have really different headlamp wiring compared to Europe, it has a three pin female plug for the headlamp area (b/w, o/g, y/b) a six pin male plug (bl, b, o/g, g/y, lightgreen, b/w) and a 4 pin female (r, o, gray, brown). Otherwise its the same as my GS1000G loom: 7 pin left hand switchgear plug and 9 pin right hand switchgear. I looked at Basscliff's wiring diagrams, but I couldn't seem to match it against any of them. Does anyone have idea what bike it's for?

    Cheers

    Dave

Sounds like a 1000G harness to me.

The four-pin connector goes to the ignition switch.
Red - constant power from main fuse
Orange - switched power going back to other fuses
Gray - fed from headlight power
Brown - goes only to the tail light.

The three-pin connector sounds like a standard H4 connectorr

The six-pin connector goes to the left side switch housing.
    Black - left signal
Blue - intermittent power from flasher unit
    Orange/green - ?? Maybe orange/red? - Power from signals fuse
Green/yellow - ?? Maybe green/black? - signals control unit to start timing cycle
    Light green - right signal
    Black/white - ground

I believe that we probably have different switch housings on both sides. You might have a headlight switch on the left. We did, up through the 1979 units, but were disabled or eliminated on later years. Our right-side housing has only THREE wires. One for power to the kill switch, one for the switched power to the coils and ignitor and one from the starter button to the solenoid.

Thanks for the information Steve. That's good to know, since it didn't fit my bike I will probably sell it on now.

      Cheers
