    Wire harness VS. model subdez.

    So im looking into a wire harness for my 82 850G project. Theres two subdesignations...the Z and D. Whats the differences?
    MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
    1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550

    NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.


    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

    Those are year designations
    The 850s had a mid year change, which I believe included the additional bolt in the cylinder head cover.
    1978 GS 1000 (since new)
    1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
    1978 GS 1000 (parts)
    1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
    1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
    1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
    2007 DRz 400S
    1999 ATK 490ES
    1994 DR 350SES

      d = 1983
      1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

      2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

        Yes, year designations. The question still remains though. What's the difference between the 1982 and 1983 harnesses?

          Probably the best way to tell is see if they have they have different part numbers, if so look at the schematic. On my 450 there where different part numbers on different pieces of the harness but at the end of the day the "generic" schematic with the wires colored in on the BassCliff site was all I ever needed.
          1980 Yamaha XS1100G (Current bike)

              '82 still had centrifugal advance for timing, '83 had it in the ignitor.
              Wiring will be slightly different to the signal generators at the crank.

              Beyond that, I don't know.
