I had a 20 amp blow on me a couple of times doing it that way... You'll need a 30amp.

HI, use a 30amp inline fuse on the positive straight to the battery and the negative also straight to the battery as recommended by Roadster Cycle.

This approach is better. It feeds power direct into the harness and only the excess power passes through the battery.

Hi, not sure if I understand. Is it not all on the same bus? I forgot to mention to the op that I use 10 gauge marine grade wire with solid connectors. My bad.

Got my 83 1100 e charging again, put in the used sh775ba r/r with a used stock stator ,I already had my last r/r going directly to the battery with a 15 amp fuse so I used it that way ,and it's not blowing the fuse. It's charging at 14.2 v ,so far two short rides total 100 miles ,cold up here in massachusetts. Still have to check for pos and neg leads for voltage drops again maybe I can get it a little better but pretty happy with 14.2. Thanks again for all the help

I’d spring for the 20 amp fuse with your setup......the 15 amp is borderline.
