fork oil ?

is there any thicker oil i can put in my forks other than fork oil I put the tubes from a 83 1100 in the in the base from a 1150 to shorten them for a 1150 drag bike project and want to use thicker oil

How thick you thinking about Anthony? Fork oil comes in up to 30 or 40 weight I think. No reason you couldn't go thicker but the forks will act like they are locked I think.

Check this out, it will give you a comparison, 20W is getting pretty thick in the forks.

Hi,

When I installed my Progressive springs I used 15wt fork oil. When I have a chance to replace my fork seals I'm going back to 10wt oil. Using 15wt with the Progressive springs is too harsh.

EDIT: Oh, never mind. I don't know nothin' 'bout no racing fork oil.

I used a 50-50 mix, 10 & 20 wt, and couldn't be happier with the results...fork is firm & taut, without being harsh, with Progressive springs. FWIW, mixing 50% 10 & 20 wt does not = 15wt as one might think.....it's more like a 12 or 13.

i just rebuilt and installed a pair of forks on my 1000. i used 20W oil and about 18 lbs of air pressure. it's pretty firm. it's exactly what i wanted but someone that wanted a smooth, cruiser ride would probably want to use lighter oil. i do some racing and i'll probably do the forks on my dragbike the same way when i get around to working on it. where do you race?

Anthony, I put 20 wt oil in all of my stock Suzuki forks that I set up for drag racing. 20 weight has felt about perfect in all the forks I've set up this way. I shorten the forks 3 inches & cut 2 inches off the stock springs. It makes it fun to get the caps back on the forks but they work really well set up this way. For ME, at least! Ray.

I should of asked you first LOL I was wondering what is the biggest rim and tire i can fit in the stock 1150 arm ?

A 160 tire is about as big as you can go & keep the chain off the tire without moving the countershaft sprocket. Ray.
