    Key #221

I need a close up picture of a #221 key if you have it. I plan on filing a key blank from the picture so I can open the gas cap on the skunk tank I just bought.

PM me if you would like to keep your name confidential.

he has a 221 listed and he is just down the road from you in Flint. Click on the link and then click on the suzuki keys at his ebay store. pretty reasonable price too i think. Way cheaper than having a locksmith cut one..

Chuck, as usual I should have been more specific in my request. I need this key to open the gas cap on the '78 tank I just bought. when the cap is off plan on recoding the cap to use on the '78 or the '80 and I'll be throwing the key away after that. I just can't see throwing away the $17 with it.

if I can't get a scan, I'll try picking or drilling it.

Maybe we should have a listing of all the keys by number somewhere on this site, so if anyone needs a key they can just look up the number and get a picture, file the key by hand.

I know your hearts in the right place, but I don't see that as being a good idea. That would make it a little too easy for the industrious hooligan to have access.

You really think the industrious hooligan needs a key to steal a thirty year old motorcycle?

If he did he could just take the number to a locksmith like anyone else.

It takes all of two seconds to defeat a Suzuki ignition switch. A slide hammer does the trick then you can start the bike with a screwdriver. You can also remove one screw from the bottom of the switch and drop the guts and use the screwdriver again. I've had three or four switches ruined when thieves tried to steal my bike. That all stopped when I blew a 6" hole in the tailgate of a Suzuki Samurai. I could have taken that guy's head off.

To prevent being able to use a slide hammer on my ignition switch I took a washer about the diameter of the switch and welded three straps to it that bend down around the switch. It's held in place by a hose clamp that is tucked away so it can't be removed easily. Anything you can do to slow prospective thieves down will discourage them. Shotguns really discourage them.

have you tried to push the lock pin at the bottom of the cylinder and just slide the tumblers out?

Chuck, you are my new hero!

I soaked the cylinder with liquid wrench, let it work for a bit, depressed the pin and out she came.
