    Wheel play

I read somwhere about rear wheel play but it did not mention how much is to much. My rear wheel, in neutral spins about 3 inches total forward till it stops. Any help would be apprec.

Be a help in knowing what bike but looking at your name i presume a GS850. Are you talking about the bike being in gear and rocking the wheel back and forth? Not sure about shaft drive but they do have a lot of gears and pinions and each one has some slop and they all would add up to some degree of movement. Have you downloaded a genuine workshop manual from basscliffs website to have a look in there?

If it's in neutral I would expect more spin if you give it a push. Can you hear any noise indicating the rear brake is dragging?

it's in gear (1st), since I put in syn oil "T6 rotella" things are just sounding different I think. Clunky gears. This and that, who knows probably nothing. Thanks for responses though.
