I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Push that down from the inside and the whole plug should slide out.

So find that hole, then turn the wire 90 degees then push it?That seems to be the missing step here,I think.

find the hole, pull the rod out of the hole and pull the rod upwards .38mm (.015) then you can go ahead and depress the 'tumbler'.
the tumbler you need to push is directly above the hole.
here is a picture of the rod in the cylinder with the end of the rod sticking out of the hole on the right side. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/545/img2428d.jpg/
the locking tab is the brass looking piece sticking out on the left side. note it is about .015 thou below the rod. (that tab is just above the hole you are feeling for when the cylinder in it's normal position)

Dale...make a video of taking it out of the cylinder and one once its out..showing how the retainer actually withdraws to allow the tumblers to slide out.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
