    clutch and brake levers

will 1980 GS1000 levers fit my 1978 GS1000? They look the same

Reason I ask is I see lots of 1980 sets but the 1978 is not listed in the applicability list.

    Thanks,
    Daryl

I think the parts are slightly different, shape and color, but interchange.

I put a set of these on my '79 GS1000E, only problem was with the clutch
lever fitting that clutch safety switch post that you don't have.
Can't remember if I had any problem with the front brake switch, you may want to remove it and look at the cut out for the brake switch post and make sure what you're looking to get matches what you have. You shouldn't have the problem I had with the clutch safety switch as you don't have one on the '78 GS1000.

They will fit but you will need to remove a small portion of the clutch lever. Use the original clutch lever as a guide.

I am finding more and more odd things with this 1000. It is a 78, but now I am being told it should not have the clutch safety switch, but it has got that feature!

The brake calipers and rotors and swingarm are from a GS1100. It also has the auto cancelling signal lights.

I wonder if the handle bar controls are also from an 1100, but I swear they are the same looking as the last 2 GS1000 bikes I had.

          Thanks,
          Daryl
