    he may be interested in yours for parts....just depends on the price.
    just be aware the value will be low.
    if you part it out you may make a few extra bucks at the expense of turning wrenches and running to the post office over and over again.
    your call really.
    6 of one...half dozen of the other.
    Parting it would make a little bit of money, for a lot of time and effort. End up with a bunch of crap nobody wants. Fixing it sounds expensive, unless you find a used engine for cheap.

    Cut your losses, sell it as is to someone who needs parts, or a project. Won't make much but it will be done. Even running it isn't worth much so no big loss either way.

    All up to you.

        Ignitor = $50
        Carbs = $50
        Exhaust = $50
        Tank = $25
        Brake system = $25
        Misc parts = ? Maybe another $100 but it will take some time.

        A lot of work to break down the bike, take photos, advertise and answer questions, box and post, etc. Not a whole lot of payback on that work.

          i agree with blowerbike... there's $$ in parts (' have a look on ebay,eh)but it's a job and you may find you turn into a pro...looking for MORE bikes to eviscerate... and, you will live with the bike "expanded" into boxes all over your space and WHO will buy the gristle that's left after the alpha-scavengers have carried off the tasty bits?...will you die unwashed and unshaven in a stinking pile of scrap waiting for the right buyer to pay a "fair" price?

          selling it As a broken bike, you quickly just slash and slash again the price until someone carts it away. Out of sight, out of mind.

            Scrap, you just drop it off with the title, bill of sale, ect. Quick down and dirty...

              Scrap it. Too much bother to part out for the return on the effort required.

                If you have title to the bike, I'd try to sell it. You won't get more money by parting it, especially after factoring in the work to salvage the various parts, price them, ship them, etc.

                  I'd sell it as a project or just scrap it. Old bikes have a hand full of parts that are worth something and a whole lot of large heavy parts that aren't.
                  Lots of work to (maybe) make a few hundred dollars.

                    Sell or restore

                    Okay,

                    I am a noobie here and thought this thread might be the place for the following question. Here is my situation: I recently bought a GS750L 1981. It runs pretty good and I am in the process of doing all the necessary maintenance to bring it to a dependable daily rider. I am changing all the "ghetto fixes" the PO did to this little gem.

                    I am at a cross roads. After the maintenance and some minor aesthetics she will be very road worthy. She will never be the modern day sport bike nor will she be a perfectly restored GS750L, because I do not care for the handlebars and seat configuration. I got her for a decent price but with all the maintenance and parts thus far I am about to go beyond her retail value if I sold her on CL.

                    Here is my question: Should i sell it now while there is still some profit to be made? Or should I keep it and use it as my daily rider? I love the classic standard 80's looking bikes but really prefer Hondas - No offense to the GS's which are great looking too. The Hondas have more sentimental value since I grew up on one.

                    Also, could someone give me a ball park figure on an 8/10 rebuild cost? In other words, how much have you guys invested in restoring your GSs? I know these costs will be highly variable and subject to individual circumstances, but a rough estimate might help with my decision. I am on a pretty tight budget if I decide to completely restore her - If?

                      Start a new thread with your questions. Just copy and paste you questions in the 'body' of the thread.

                      To answer one of your questions, I'll have somewhere north of $3,000 in my little $125 motorcycle when it's finished. Sometimes it's not about the money involved.

                        regardless you wont get much money. If you just want to get rid of it since you don't want to fix it, I would say sell it as a project. Let them know it was a running driving bike before and someone out there probably wont mind throwing in a motor to get it running. At least thats all it needs. Most projects need everything replaced haha
