    Thread Inserts for Stripped Exhaust

Any one use Time Serts for thread repairs in exhaust in GS 1100 heads? I wondered if you had the stainless steel ones or used carbon steel types? Thanx Mike

I assume you have apprehensions or reprehensibleness toward the good old helicoil? Stainless helicoil in an AU head; what coul be better?

Those gold heads must cost a pretty penny!

I use Time Serts exclusively. Have one in the #3 spark plug hole on the 1000C. Has been there maybe 5 years and its fine to this day. Used them on the 73 TX 750 jugs for the bolts that hold the head on too.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Time Serts are not perfect, either. Hope yours works longer than the one that came with my son's 850 several years ago.
