    battery ground

I'm replacing the battery in a GS850G that I recently bought. Next to the negative battery cable there is a black wire with a white stripe, but the connector is gone. I think that this is supposed to be connected to the battery's (-) lead and from there to the fuse box. Can anyone verify this?

    Thanks,
    Tom

Thanks. Mine is also an 82. Not many miles, but it appears to me that the previous owners should have taken it to the shop for work instead of attempting it themselves.

I have two small wires like this on mine. They are both connected to the fuel gauge sender unit.
