Big dent in tank when bars hit it
Can a dent in a tank be pulled out? I decided to examine the bottom of an 8 foot ditch the other day, and the bars put a good-sized dent in the tank. It breaks my heart, because the paint is in excellent condition, as well as the inside of the tank.Tags: None

Ding King!
I know, "As Seen on TV!"
I have had at least limited success using the DIng King on both my car and bike. It depends on the dent, creases or very small dents or dents on hard body lines won't pull, but for what it is does an okay job. Saved my tank.

Maybe
I was at a bike shop one time and saw a guy from a local 'dent and scratch' place (you know the ones...they drive around in a van). He was removing a dent from a nice looking bike and I watched him for about 20 minutes while I waited for a tire to be mounted. He had some special tools and was tapping the tank...from the inside! I asked him if it would be noticeable when he finished and he said "probably not or just barely".
I didn't see him start or finish but I was really impressed with what I saw. I would suggest you have one of those guys take a look at it. You might even get a recommendation from a body shop because they probably know who's good and don't really consider them competition since they only do small jobs.1980 GS1100E....Number 15!

They look O.K. I actually rode it home after the wrecker lifted me out of the ditch.
I am a little miffed at it right now, because after I changed the bars the starter won't function, although the lights, horn, etc. do.
I am currently giving it dirty looks when I go out into the garage, hoping to scare it into starting again.
I'll be rebuilding the forks when I get her going again, which will allow me to get a better look at the fork tubes.

i had a big nasty dent in my 1k tank. took it to the pros at the auto body shop, sweet no dent! beat it hammered and pulled it out then smoothed it over. just find a small local shop and ask them about it. don't hurt to ask!
