Overcharge

My books says anything between 13.5 and 15.5 volts from my R/R is alright. Should I be overly concerned if at 5000 rpm I get 16.6 volts ?
Two different meters, same outcome. I just don't want to spend the bucks for a new R?R and still have a 16.6 volt output. On the otherhand I wouldn't want to boil the life out my battery every couple of weeks.

Yes, you should be concerned. You will destroy your battery and bulbs at an overcharging rate as high as 16.6V. Replace the R/R before more damage is done.

Even worse than battery and bulbs, I would worry about the ignitor. 8-[

yes, do the ground mod.
if the regulator is not grounded good it wont regulate the voltage correctly.

I moved the ground wire from the battery case to the [-] battery post. It did not make a difference. thanks

also look into doing a honda regulator mod, lots of info on this sight.
