i don't have any info to help you i'm sorry, but considering where you are at and shipping charges please look at this and maybe it is a possibility thats what i would do if i needed to repair my stator.

I went with Rick's and have had good luck so far. Voltage is regulated between 13.5 and 14.5 at all RPMs. I also added a ground bypass wire directly to the battery ground from the RR. It plugged into the existing connectors without any modification.
I didn't see any advantage to getting the Electrex and it was 50% more money when I looked at it.

Since we're talking electrics, how's the custom R/R holding up, Cletus? I haven't done anymore work on mine since Greg and Steve came out, so was wondering...

Regards,
My techs are playing with what they term a "Smart regulator". Still in the breadboard stages and still some bugs, but it's a switching regulator and has promise. Some commercial projects on the front burner so there's not much time for them to play on the bench.
The latest is my bike goes to the shop on Monday and we're doing a top-end job on the motor (de-coke, rings and seals), when I get it back (hopefully within a week) the new MAC exhaust goes on.

I have the Electrex pieces. Very happy so far, easy installation, and excellent quality. Only issue with the electrix stator is it came with 3 bare wires that need to be soldered, or fit into the old factory Suzuki plug.

I'm leaning towards Electrex, but I've got some time to consider yet. BTW that's a fine looking bike! ...no wonder it made bike of the month.

Cletus, I hope it's Rick's. Because that's what I put in my bike this spring! :-D Really hard to judge something like a stator, hey, you know that. Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chance. Good luck! I bet on Rick's we'll see how it works out.

Stator
I put in a new stator and R/R in June...both Rick's. The stator works fine. The R/R was defective so I sent it back and put in one from another GS...and all is well. I think you could have bad luck with either Rick's or Electrex but that's the luck of the draw. If you do a search, you'll find lots of stories about both.1980 GS1100E....Number 15!
