    81 GS850L drive shaft boot

My drive shaft boot has a tear in it, so I've stopped riding the bike until I can replace it. Are these available anywhere, or to I have to try to repair the old one?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Two of my favorite parts sources:
http://bikebandit.com <== Fastest, a little spendy. Excellent service.
    http://flatoutmotorcycles.com <== Cheapest! Good service.

The boots are still available new from Suzuki. Bikebandit says $16.74 for the boot, so Flat out will be a couple bucks cheaper.

I have a used one I'll sell you cheap, assuming you're in the US so I can send it to you without anyone thinking it must be a bomb part. PM me if you're interested in that option.

If the weather is nice, I wouldn't worry too much about riding with a tear in the boot. The u-joint bearings are sealed -- they aren't exposed like a CV joint in a car. The boot is just to keep the really icky stuff and rocks out.

Thanks for the quick reply, the information, the resources, and the offer of a used boot. I think, for the bother of replacing the boot, I may as well use the new part.

Also, VERY good to know that it's safe to ride the bike as-is.

As far as I know, my bike is an '80 GS850L. I checked the parts lookup at FlatOut and found two boots listed.

        Model X
        BOOT, DRIVE SHAFT
        61372-45300 1 $13.28

        Model T
        5 BOOT, DRIVE SHAFT
        61372-45102 1 $12.10

I'm not sure which to order, since neither lists an "L" model.

        Can anyone clarify this?

        Thanks!

Thanks for the reply and the link to the model chart! I know the Yamaha year/model numbering, but I didn't recognize the same thing on my suzukis.
