86 GS1100E gas tank on a 81 GS850G ???

Has anyone out there put a 1986 GS1100E gas tank on a 81 GS850G?? The config looks a little different but I can't see the underside of the gs1100 tank as it is on ebay. It would be great if ebayers took a few more pictures. Thank you for pondering any help would be appreciated-

I would be surprised if this tank fit the 81 GS850G. These are the tanks that are exchangeable with a GS850GX: (X is for 81; notice we're talking about the standard 850, not the "L" model, right?)

I dont think a GS1100E tank will fit. Its a totally different tank.

Well, I was not aware that the 1100E was made in 86. I thought the last year was 83, then it went to the 1150E. Just a thought...

I saw that also unless it is a 1100 outside of the states. I think the 1100s did go on for a few more years after 83 outside of the US.
