    Need 1983 GS850G Key Blank

Help! People keep telling me Peoria, Illinois is a crappy town but I didn't believe them until I tried getting a copy of my one and only key for my '83 GS850G. None of the local hardware stores carry a blank they can cut to make a duplicate key. The Suzuki AUTOMOTIVE dealer just laughed at me when I called and asked how I can get a new key cut or a blank to take somewhere and get it cut. There is no local Suzuki motorcycle dealer and any non-local dealer can't (or won't) sell me a blank over the phone because they don't know which blank to send. 3 of 6 calls have resulted in "you own an '83.... you don't need a key, you need a new motorcycle..... why don't you stop down.... " you get the picture... Anyway, anyone know where I can get a blank key to cut for my bike? I am very worried I will lose this key and then be SOL.... Thanks!!

Want one for an old t-bird? that is what I use, I thinned it down with a file, shortened it and cut it on the key machine at work, It works in a pinch.

i've also seen blanks time to time on e-bay.

I went to the local locksmith and had several made. The blank is an ILCO X87.

If you want it to look the same, you can order a blank from Suzuki. It's part #37146-47010. Just $7.71 from Flat Out Motorcycles, or $9.57 through BikeBandit, and you can have it cut at any locksmith.

Any real locksmith shop will also have no trouble coming up with a duplicate that will work, but it won't look the same.

Hardware stores and the like won't be able to help.
