    Gs850g spark plugs

What is the correct spark plugs for a '80 GS850G?

    #2
NGK B8ES, gapped somewhere between .026 and .030. Im not sure of the model numbers of any other brand, as I only use NGKs in my bikes.

      Danie,
The spark plug gaps are 0.6mm - 0.8mm. I think the previous poster gave it in thou which is 0.024" - 0.031"
B8ES NGK's are available from Autozone or Midas and cheaper there.

Yanno i had a grade school teacher way back when who's last name was Van Zyl. Her husband was from South Africa. Is that a fairly common last name there, the way Smith or Johnson is here in the states?

TheCafeKid, yes, we are fully metric since about 1970 with some imperial remnants still floating around. There are quite a few Van Zyl's around this part of the world, as Danie would know. I am glad to see another GS coming to life around here.
I still keep both types of feeler guages.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.
Yes there are a few 'van Zyl' people around here but the surname isn't quite as common as Smith or Jones.
My son has managed to almost destroy my 850 so I'm presently searching for various bits and pieces to get it back to decent, biggest problem being a speedo/revcounter cluster. Can anyone help?

                      Hi Mr. Danie van Zyl,

Even though you have few posts, it seems you've been a member of the forum for over a year. I've been remiss in my duties. Please click here for your mega-welcome and visit my little BikeCliff website for lots of 850G lovin'. There's a manual and lots of other goodies.

                      Thank you for your indulgence,

                      BassCliff

What is the difference between the B8 ES and the BR8 ES?

                        Thanks!

                        Rick

                          "R" resistor...
like the resistance in your plug caps, noise suppression.

Inevitably the bike suffered the worst injuries.
