The 82 850 does have a cage, and it's different from the early 850 cage - has a spring clip instead of a screw tab. I know this because my 850 was missing it's filter and I went around and around getting a cage to install a K&N in the airbox. And sorry to sound negative but don't hold your breath regarding Uni tooling up to make a cage, particularly since K&N doesn't provide one and most people swapping over to a Uni/K&N, already have the cage.
Hope you find what you need and good luck.Ed
To measure is to know.

Like I told him, I already sunk $50 in a new filter... If he wants to make that up to me some other way, well, make checks payable to...

my opinion, a stock 850 is fine the way it is.

Plus the biggie for me is the weight. Ride a stock setup, then ride one with a 4 into 1, it handles like a different bike with that 30 pounds or so taken off. That being said I LOVE the look of a beautiful stock bike. It's just different and each has it's place.Last edited by Guest; 07-30-2008, 04:07 PM.

Yes, and I don't have one. I only have a UNI foam filter. Just foam. It floats around in the air box. The air going to the carbs can slip right past it. But thank you for the picture reference.
