Help Identify This Seat

I have this seat from a Suzuki GS, just not sure of the exact year and model. Hoping someone here can identify it for me. I want to sell the seat, but can't do that until I know what it is. I got it from a guy who took it off his bike when it was new to replace it with a 2-up touring seat. He has since passed away and so I don't know what the bike was. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

Gary - advertise it worldwide and see what deal you can get on the shipping. You guys just don't know how lucky you are with the lack of rust. You should get your price in £s pretty easily I reckon

HH....we don't have a lack of rust here in Michigan. We're the heart of the rust belt and put salt on the roads to speed up the process. The seat hasn't been on a bike in about 25 years, that's why it's not rusty. I'm going to put it on ebay and ship it anywhere that someone wants to pay for the shipping. Thanks.

It's not from a 78/79 1000E or a 80/81 1000G or an 80550E.

Wally - Gary's weather is probably worse than yours! Hard to believe I know...

It appears to be hinged or pivoted at the front (something missing there) with a locking mechanism (also missing) at the back so I would go for 82 850G too. Nessism may be able to confirm, he has one.

Looking at the grab rail,it looks a lot like a '79 GS1000S. Looks a lot like mine , except mine is horribly rusted.If it is,I'd be very interested--regardless of the freight.Cheers,Simon.

Just advertise it on ebay as "Got it from a friend so I don't know but probably fits any GS ever made. Maybe a Valkyrie too."

Two pins in the front to hook under the front, two studs at the backrear for the rear striker, the way the stitches go up the sides.
I'll take a picture of my (83 seat) seat bottom.

***EDIT*** I don't believe the seat bumpers are that high, I'll look tonight.

It's definitely not a 79GS1000S. Completely different. The grab rail & vinyl pattern are similar though as they are with all these GS seats.

It does look like a 650G to me also, will check when I get home, not sure but I think it is missing a couple of the rubber bumper strips under those risers.

I would concur...

Looks exactly like my 650g before I recovered it....bottom looks the same too. Yes, it is missing the hard rubber peices on the bottom of the risers.
