Where to attach turn signals

Stupid question, I know,but I have good reasons for it.

The thing is, the bike was bought with a luggage rack and now I've decided to ditch it because it's damn ugly and destroys the beauty of the bike, until I have a good enough reason to put it on. I don't have a top case and don't use the side cases that I DO have, so it's useless to me for now. And, again, it's damn ugly.

But the thing is, I don't know where the rear turn signals are supposed to be mounted on the frame of the bike.

All help appreciated, but most especially photos of how the rear turn signals were put on originally.

Wow, funny you mention this.

I just had to deal with the same thing. Ditch the luggage rack, the lights move. Stupid PO...

Anyway, mine mounted at the very rear of the frame where there are two bolts to hold the rear inside fender on. That is an 82 GS850G, though. I just looked at stock pictures and the fiche and figured it out.

Mounting?

I'm not sure if it is very different from my 79 GS550, but you will probably need the original mounting brackets. My lights mounted to a bracket which mounted to the frame. It looks as though you will indeed need a bracket if yours is no longer there. good luck!

Thank you all very much for the help, guys! Seems like new mounting brackets are in order. Good thing my uncle has the machinery to professionally make them.

Make sure you carefully note the model of bike, remove the brackets for the luggage rack and sell the rack and brackets to someone who wants them.

Big $$ could be yours! Medium $$, anyway.

Racks are pure unobtanium, especially ones with their attaching brackets and where you know what they fit.

Thanks for the advice, bwringer, but I've already decided not to sell it. It looks ugly, but eventually I'll sacrifice those 146 EUR for a top case and then I'll be able to use it. Besides, me and a female friend of mine from Germany have been talking about touring Tuscany, Italy, this year or the next and we'll need the cargo space then. And those Krauser/BMW hard cases are big.
