i see dyna/dynatek have coils that J&P cycles state that will work but im really iffy about them since they dont go into the specifics that they will work. that and i would have to put the wires+caps in myself caps i can live with but mostly i dont wanna screw up. and the ones at Dennis Kirk were the emgo ones listed for but if the last year for points was 79.. than why does it list bikes that are 1993 specifically GS850G's and GL's if the last yr for points is 79? this is all really confusing to me... although i might just be making a bigger deal out of something small.

              Yep.... your are

The only thing to watch out for is the OHM of the coils. You need 3 ohm ones. Dyna Green fit, Accel fit. You do have to put your own wires on them but it's not hard!

Unless you're modifying your air flow (exhaust, pods, etc.) or believe you have mixture problems already, you should not have to re-jet. The ignition system won't affect the fuel mixture. Or is this mod part of a larger project and I'm (as usual) speaking out of turn?

speaking out of turn???? lol. well the reason i asked about rejetting is because the coils that i purchased today mentioned that i might have to rejet. you can see them at jp cycles web site or Dennis Kirk the coils are the accel 4cylinder super coil kit. and the reason is "to rejet for richer mix for optimum performance"

No need to re-jet based on the coils - only if you have other mods such as PODs & a 4-1 exhaust...

ok i bought the Accel Super coil kit 4 cylinder 3ohm's
when i opend the box it said (non) CDI type.. my bike a GS850G has an Ignighter (CDI) box im confused again... will this work on my bike i know its had to say a solid yes or no...

the reason i ask is cause i cant return/exchange the coils and i wanna know if i wasted 200$ on something that wont work..

the igniter used on your bike, is not a CDI unit (capacitive discharge ignition).

so it is non-CDI and yes is the answer.

                              ignition/no spark

well after a few hours of refitting brackets and what have you. i rigged up my new coils... still the same problem exists.. sparking now like hell on 2&3 and nothing on 1&4.. now i tested the signal gen. like said in the links rusty provided on the other thread.. and now i think threw my own possibly twisted deduction that now it has to be the igniter... does this hypothesis hold water? or is there something else i can check first? or possibly try forcing a spark bypassing the igniter w/o frying anything?
