need front fork help
i did the fork seals on my 1981 gs1100e yesterday. all seems well. i put the seals in at a buddy's house and i left my manual there. i reinstalled the forks yesterday. they are in but i have a question. there is a hole on each fork that appears to match up to an air bleed screw on the front of the lower triple tree. is the hole supposed to match up to the air bleed screw? i havenot taken the bike off of the center stand yet and until i have this question answered i wont ride it or test the suspension.Tags: None

Not familiar with the 81 1100E forks, but from looking at the schematic not sure if it makes a difference.
The holes in the fork tube are captured by the collars that seal with upper and lower o-rings. The collars should be undercut looking at the schematic.
Not sure the function of the stop valve/needle valves in the 81 1100E collars. Interesting. Looks like no o-ring seals on the connecting hose?

Also the forks will work better if you DONT run any air, That puts unneeded pressure on ure seals. Running a spacer/better springs instead of air is a better option
