    Oil leak...Big

I own an 82 850 L. It's my first bike and I have learned alot this summer. On Saturday I took a long ride and noticed nothing unusual. with all the rain we have been having I havent been able to ride. but I went out today and just let it idol for a few min. oil quickly began to pour out of a machine drilled hole in the bottom of the engine on the left leg side. About a shot glass and a half of oil. At the beginning of the summer it had a small leak in the same place but nothing like this. I replaced the O ring over the starter and the oil gage and the leak stopped. But this is heavy leaking. I only ran it for 7 min tops.
I wreked it a few months ago but I don't think that this is related I had no Leaking after the wreck. Any thoughts?

Sure... o-ring for the starter nose, or the grommet for the stator wires.
pull the cover off the starter and have a look see.

I replaced the cam chain tensioner at the beginning of the season as well. I dont see anything obvious around it. What red flags am I looking for around it?

I'll put my money on the starter o-ring.

What you might find lying around on the workbench won't necessarily stand up to the heat and oil environment.
