    Just Made a Carb Stand

I was screwing around sort of cleaning up/ looking for something, when I saw some stuff that I thought I could make some use out of. 1/2" black pipe and a shower rod. The shower rod had a plastic sleeve on it that fits perfect into the carb body so no contact with the throttle slide. Anyway, I was proud of myself for not drawing blood, so I thought somebody might need an idea for a cheap carb stand, don't we all! Flip the carbs over to work on the other side. Sometimes I amaze myself.

A very nice idea you have there mills. in fact I may make one, but with the pipes at a 90 degree bend. that way I can work on them upside down, or right side up; with the bonus of it making a nice stand to bench check float levels.

    excellent idea...

you get the prize of the day for this idea.

I see you have some 90 degree elbows also, +1 for the idea.
    brilliant!

p.s. PM the administrator, this idea needs to go in the tips and tricks.

Yep, I had the extra 90's so I might try them too. Maybe a little tray built in to hold all the little parts as they come out of the carbs? Does anybody else use the plastic trays that a pound of ground meat comes in for a parts tray?

I like to use the reusable glad containers you get at the market The large one's will fit all the parts with a sealed top, one for each carb. so if you knock it over the parts don't get lost

What's the big deal with keeping the parts seperate from each other? Only parts I bother to keep matched together are the float needles and seat.

My father and I always have multiple projects going on so we save all of our peanut cans. Pop the lid on and prevent spilling. Tape on the can assures that you don't loose track of where they came from (I usually label the cans based on which parts fiche the parts are featured it).

What? doesn't everyone have one of these?

The hole in the side of the carbs is fairly mass-centered, so you can flip them up and push that screw on the left to hold them up. I suppose you could make something like this out of 2x4s and a few bolts .....
