Is it possible? in a word no it's not. but, if the compression numbers are close and you are very careful with your bench synch-ing; you can get them close.

Hey, that highest rpm method of adjusting idle is really tough on an inline 4 cylinder bike, you'd want to be syncronized first for sure. I cant manage it on the 1150 (not saying much) It worked ok on the venture and any twin.
Also...you'll want a good sized fan to move air across the engine while you are playing with it.GSX1300R NT650 XV535

It's actually pretty easy, if you only take a couple minutes there's no need for a fan. Synchronizing the carbs beforehand is helpful, if the synch is off one or two of the mix screws won't do anything.Originally posted by derwood View PostHey, that highest rpm method of adjusting idle is really tough on an inline 4 cylinder bike, you'd want to be syncronized first for sure. How long do you take? More than ten or so seconds per carb and you are not doing it right.Originally posted by derwood View Postno its not, yes you do

No, the synch takes a bit longer. You were talking about the highest idle method of adjusting idle. If you work quickly and shut it off anytime you are not actually tweaking anything you don't need a fan, even to do the synch. If you are slow and let it idle for ten minutes or so a fan would be good, depending on how hot the ambient temperature is. I've never used a fan, have not melted any engines. My buddy runs them a LOT longer than I ever would, he has not damaged any engines either.Originally posted by derwood View PostNo, I can't synch and adjust my carbs in 10 seconds, yet, And the first time i did it it took significantly longerLast edited by tkent02; 10-29-2009, 06:30 PM.
