I Hate my Carbs and stock air cleaner!

Carbs and air cleaner to hard to take on and off. No room to reach anything! Sill no RRRR's !!! I'm sick of it !! SICK OF IT!! Well, Think I'll take them off and Bench syinc. again. Start, Fresh. It really likes to run with my hand part way blocking air cleaner intake. But would make it hard to ride that way.

Was the air cleaner oiled when you installed it?

are the air box seals properly in place, or were they sealed with weather stripping if you didn't have the originals?

what are the fuel levels set to when measured externally?
(you'll need to get a spare float bowl drain screw to drill, if you make your own)

It's true that Suzuki didn't do us any favors in terms of serviceability of the airbox. Some models are worse than others; the 850 for example is way easier than the 550. Once you take the carbs in and out a couple of times you get the hang if it and things get easier.

Most important thing is to fix the carbs properly so you don't have to take them in and out. I'd guess to say that about 75% of newbies don't do a proper carb rebuild so then they have to take them off a second, or third, time.

Follow the procedure on the GSR homepage, get fresh o-rings from cycleorings.com, don't cut any corners, and you should only have to do the job once.
