Rear drive gs1100

Hi you GS,ERS out there THIS IS MY FIRST POST I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT REAR END DRIVE UNITS WILL FIT MY BIKE.
i HAVE A 82 GK 1100

All the 850/1000/1100 rear ends are the same and will interchange. Starting in 1983 the ratio was changed slightly to afford lower rpm's.

I might ask why you ask. And the reason I ask why you ask is this: If you think you have something stripped out or otherwize something failed in the rear drive, it probably isnt stripped out in the rear drive, but more likley in the rear wheel. Do some searches on "rear spline" or "rear hub". Or PM me, I can send some pictures.

Dave's right to ask, the rear spline often strips out on the later bikes but the rear ends are bullet proof. Before spending money on a rear end it would be smart to pull the rear wheel and have a look see in case you haven't already done so.

The wheel spline was replaced befor i got the bike and is in v good condition.
I inspected the drive side spline and it is 1/3rd worn.

If you get a different year final drive unit, such as from a 1980-81, make sure you get the axle shaft spacers with it.

EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed that you said your drive side gear is pretty worn. I also have a spare unit, but I think it's from an 850 so the gearing will be a little lower than others. Make sure you put it back together with some Honda Moly 60 Paste lubricant. It's "the kind". Check out this info on spline lubricants. Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you found us. Check the spline gear in the rear wheel (forgive me if you've already done so). If it's not the final drive unit (these things are pretty tough), it could be this:

...or some other issue in the area of the U-joint on the back of the bevel gears. What are your symptoms?

mine did.
