    good tires?

What tires can I put on my GS to have a long tread life? Its just a cruiser, and not really for performance driving- good wet traction would be nice too since I may get stuck in the rain on some cruises. I just want somethng Iwon't have to change every 6 months.

the longer tread life the better- provided its not a $300 tire.

This is the kind of thing you'll always get a lot of varying opinions on. So far, I've been very impressed with my Bridgestone Spitfire tire set.

I run Pirelli Sport Demons. Great handling. Great in the weather but have not had them on long enough to comment on there tread ware. So far they are holding up as well as any other set of tires I had in the past.

To further the point, my K491 rear has over 5K miles and is just begginning to show signs of wear. I would say 20K is not out of reach for this tire. Of course, I have a very conservative riding style.

Looks like I might get just over 4k on my Dunlop D404's. Best mileage I've gotten on a rear tire in 30k miles of 1100E riding. I've already told my shop to get another pair in for me.

What's your bike? My 1100E's eat rear shoes like candy.

Can you get the Pirellis in a 130 wide rear?

I've had good luck with the elite IIs (18k front and 15k rear - miles), and a Metzler Me880 front with an ME88 rear the would have gone pretty close to the same milage as the Elite IIs but the front started to cup mildly so I changed it at 16k. I also had good luck with the stock front tire that I ran on a V65 Sabre (Honda) that I had the Dunlop F11 stock front would normally get about 21k before I had to replace it.

That's pretty much my experience with long lasting tires but I have run a lot of sets of Elite IIs and tried several other tires that didn't work near as well.

I got 7000 miles on my K491 rear. It probly would in reality last atleast twice as long.
I did alot of stupid stuff with those tires. The 491s are good (predictable) in rain and have great wear.

                        metzler and Pirelli

I have had good luck with Metzlers on my old bikes, both for milage and safety. I have been wanting to try Pirellis though.
