    Easiest way to newer rubber? Dead horse inside.

    I know this has been pounded into the ground, but can someone point me in the right direction to get somewhere around a 150-160 rear tire on my bike, and maybe a smaller diameter but touch wider front tire?

    Dont want to go the all-out GSXR swap, want to retain some semblance of period-correctness, so the USD forks are not an option.

    Low-buck solutions also welcome.

    You can stab 1989~present GS500E front wheels into the GS750. This way you eep the Suzuki speedo drive so your stock speedo will still read semi-accurately (after you correct in your head for tire height changes).

    You're screwed for finding a modern sportish tire/wheel combo for the stock swingarm, though. You'll have to have it modified or install another arm. I've modified many swingarms to throw in wider wheels. With the old steel arms, any competent welding shop would be able to set you up. I will say, though, that it's much easier to install a modern swingarm. Suzuki Bandit 400 and GS500 swingers are narrow enough to fit in nearly any frame and it only requires two sets of brackets welded to the frame ($50 at a competent shop). the only decent applicable wheel for the stock 750 arm is a YZF600R Thundercat...and you will HAVE to widen the arm.

      You could go with Slabside GSXR 18" mag wheels. You can still get radials in 18" for those rims. They're pretty light and would look pretty slick.

        What Matt above just said! Those wheels were already black in color & can EASILY be buffed on the rim lips & spoke edges to look like the stock 83 wheels. If you get the GSXR 1100 wheel in that pattern it is either 4.0 or 4.25 inch wide & will fit in the stock swingarm. You will need the GSXR rear caliper, hanger, rotor & cush drive also. You just need to make a 5 mm thick spacer to put behind the front sprocket. If you convert to 530 chain & sprockets, Sprocket Specialists has all the parts with out custom order charges! Ray.

          Well thats the thing.

          I'm starting to think that it's time for the 530 conversion as well, so I'm trying not to buy things more than once.

          Would I be able to re-use the stock front brakes and all? Like I said I want to update the bike a bit, but don't want to go crazy, as the period-correctness factor is somewhat of a desire for me.

            Front calipers, NO, unless you make hangers to relocate them. The GSXR rotors are bigger in diameter. I would want the GSXR calipers anyway. And you need to make hangers for those too. If you use the GSXR front wheel (as I would want to) you have to use those rotors anyway. You can paint the rotor centers black for the same look as the GS rotors to disguise them some. It can all be done AND still be fairly stock looking but it will take a little work. Believe me, though, it IS worth it! Ray.

              Sorry to butt in guys. Would I be right in thinking that it would be a straight forward swap to bolt on a complete slabby front end ( wheel, brakes, forks etc ) and a like minded rear wheel with brakes etc? Is the length of fork compatible? I guess all the bearings are the same as is usual Suzuki fair.

              I think that some of us just want decent brakes and rubber and have no desire to over tire our GS's with 17" radials and USD forks. This can look cool however but does detract from the original look of the bike somewhat. To be honest I'd be tempted to stick with the pram wheels and and just stick with the brake mod as I certainly don't have any grip issues with my BT 45's.

                the slabby front end is real short but can bolt on.

                  you could watch e bay for a 1150 wheel same spoke pattern as a 83 and ive got one thats 3.5 inch wide also have a 3.0 i may part with

                      Hey Elvis, the early 1100 GSXR front ends are the right length & are a direct bolt on. Use EVERY part of it & be done with it. Ray.
