    Gsx-r conversion?

    Hi guys,
I own a '84 gs750e and was wondering what was the easiest way to do a gsx-r front and rear conversion? From what year should I get my parts? Will I need some custom work done? What stock parts can I keep?
    thanks a lot

After reading these types of threads for about 12 years now, I think just about any early gixxer front end should bolt up with minimal hassle. Suzuki saw fit to keep the same steering head dimensions for a while. As far as swingarms, that is going to require a little more imagination. Frame width and pivot bolt size are going to be an issue, but I think your main concern is going to be ground clearance. Do a good forum search, this topic has been covered for years.

Good luck...I'm sure someone who knows more than me will chime in soon.

also depends if you want to monoshock the rear or keep it twin shock. obviously the twin shock route will mean some innovative work to fit but far less work than a monoshock conversion. (i should know!)
the front end is more or less a direct replacement from most models

Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

That bike is a monoshock already. You can fit a 160/60/17 with a 4.5 wide wheel from an '89 1100 with the stock swingarm, 180 is too wide. Any other swingarm would be a major undertaking to make it fit, but with enough work could be done. A 160 is big enough for me, I just finnished doing it to my '83. I have a complete GSX600F (Katana in U.S.) front end on it also.

My bike is an example of what can be mixed and matched. It has '95 GSXR forks in something like '04 CBR954RR triple clamps. The front wheel is an '88 GSXR750 and the calipers are from the early '90s. Rotors are PFM ductile iron. Clipons are off some Ducati, gauges are GSXR as are the controls and switchgear. The rear wheel is a 4.5" GSXR750 that was used only in '88 and '89. I believe some of the later Katana models had the 4.5" wheel. Rear caliper and rotor are GSXR. The pipe is a Yosh Duplex intended for an oil cooled GSXR.
