GS Brake Upgrade - Kawisaki Twinpot (optional CBR Rotor)

Well... I'm now out of kits but planning to get a few more made up which will be available late Feb.

This time for various reasons (mainly ease of getting them made up) I am going to go with steel.

The benefits of this for us will be: Cheaper brackets plus we can use the stock bolts as I will make the bracket a bit thinner (This is fine with the added strength of steel). This will save another additional expense.
All brackets will be powdercoated black.

The only drawback is a little extra weight but I reckon it will be only a couple of ounces a side different all in.

I will post up more info & prices when I get them.

    Cheers,

    Dan

Just an update. These are being made now so will be available late feb.

This time price should be about $75-80 shipped in the USA including both the caliper plates and the adapters for the cbr rotors.

So, if I get this kit, what else will I need for the upgrade?

Not sure fir your bikes but for the 1000 and other dual rotor models it's a simple case of either 2 Gs 550 rotors and the Kawasaki calipers or optionally Honda CBR F3 rotors plus basic skills a drill and maybe a file to fit...

                Dan,
Do you know the diameter and the offset of the gs550 or the cbr discs?
                Thanks.

                    Dan,

I'm trying to convince another member to do the upgrade, but I can't find your original thread (the one that ran for pages and pages).

My search skills will only bring up the newer threads

Har har it was found in a crunch so that is done. I am interested in this bracket you are making you want to PM me the address info so when you do get them i can send you some money for a kit?

Looking on ebay CBR F3 rotors are pricey...what was the price you paid for your CBR600 F3 rotors? Using GS Rotors would be nice and is an option if you happen to have spares laying around you would like to get rid of =)

I paid about $80 shipped for mine but others have paid less.... They do come up. Cheapest option is GS550 rotors about 40 bucks for a pair normally.

I have one 550 rotor I think it might be one that is within run out spec but apparently you can feel a pulse on the lever. You're welcome to try it though.

I won't have brackets till late next month. Possible I may have a set of cbr rotors off my old 1000g too.... The guy who bought it is going for EBC ones.

Recently I have switched to one line from MC to right caliper and one line looping over top of fender joining 2 calipers. Looks clean and works well.

I saw the pictures of that looked very nice....I would think prolonged vibrating would be bad, though to be honest I think it would have to vibrate for longer than I am old to probably get any sort of fatigue in the line. I will start aquiring the parts I can on ebay. I have a few other things I need to do before I do this on my gs but mark me down for one of those kits with the CBR spacers. I'll refrain from stoppies I swear...
