    MRE lockup clutch?

I came across an MRE lockup clutch kit and was wondering if they are ok setups. Also wouldnt I need a longer clutch release rack thingy
(technical name), to make up for the clutch cover being spaced out further?

the extension comes with the kit when new.
you should be able to run 55o/750 springs with this set up.

      oh wow,
      your missing both parts..
the cable extension and the longer rack.
      not good.
the rack part can be really expensive when bought from the manufacturer.

Ok, thats good to know. I have never seen the extended rack for sale individually and the clutch setups I have seen have never had one with it
Does the cable really need an extension? Its only an inch or spacer

yes to all of the above questions.
the longer rack is the killer though.

Couldn't find it at Schnitz, but MTC lists it for sale at $96
Out of curiosity, would my brake pedal clear the clutch cover when it is spaced out?

No! Not without bending it! Ray.

if you have a buddy with a lathe and maybe a welder...
a person may take 2 stock racks and make a longer one.

IDK, Schnitz lists the entire kit for uner $300 so I think 1/3 of that for the extended rack is a bit much

                        PM from Ray:
                        -----------------
Just so you know, if you hadn't been such a dick about the rocker arms I wouldn't have gone in & bid up that lockup you were trying to get. I stopped at 171.99 but you probably could have gotten for 75 or so if you hadn't pi$$ed me off. You might want to keep that in mind in the future. Ray.

                        ---------------------------
I never even bid on it

I run an MRE lock-up clutch on my turbo'd Z1. They do allow you to run lighter clutch springs for a much lighter clutch action. Before the lock-up clutch I was running very heavy clutch springs - but they were killing my wrist and breaking clutch cables.

You do need to be VERY careful setting them up with the correct amount of weight on the throwout levers. If you are in gear and blip the throttle too much, the clutch WILL engage (ask me how I know). This is something you need to test in a parking lot or wide open road. You don't want the clutch engaging much under 5,000rpm.

The simple test is to select 1st gear while holding the clutch lever in, then GRADUALLY raise the RPM. Once you feel the bike creeping forward you adjust the weight on the levers up/down from that.

The lockup assembly is attached to the inner basket and shouldn't be rotating unles there is movement of the rear wheel, right? If that's the case then how would jeffs method work to set the arm weights?
