Wow Pete that is looking awesome, don't let the minor stuff get you down, there will always be something to do, it will never be perfect, so just relax and enjoy what you have achieved, it is looking super wicked.

Have a look under the seat, is there enough vinyl after the hooks to let it out 5mm each side? if so just another piece of foam needed.. I would hit the upolsterer up while the jobs freash in his head, take the photos and your template... dont be whingy, or demanding, just explain it clearly, you never know, some small bussiness owners still take pride in thier work, and get a kick out of odd ball jobs. they might rework it for you for nix or beer. theres no harm in asking...

And when is the ride day? I have a vision of a bunch of SE QLD GSR users cheering as you ride up to the cafe.

That is so wierd, that is the EXACT phrase I was going to use... great minds think alike.

Have you talked with him about raising the rear section 10-20mm?
Still don't see your exhaust heat shield on the bike yet.

          She looks fantastic BTW.

So are we to expect to see this bike as BOM sometime in the very near future?

Thanks Stan! I'm definitely happy with how the seat fits in with the rest of the bike, just a little annoyed with myself for not getting the rear quite right.

Yep John, there's definitely enough for a small increase in the rear height and I don't think it would be difficult for them to do. I was thinking I'd give them a call this morning and after you put it like that I think it will be well worth the call...

I have visions of the same ride day! Without the cheering though for some reason... haha

If I can get her on the road before Chrissy then hopefully just after will be a good time once I get some confidence back on two wheels. Definitely keen for a GSR ride!

Thanks Daniel! I'll be calling them this morning to see what they say.

And the heat shield's definitely there... have a look at this one and you see the rear of it near the rear shock:

And this one you can see the front of it towards the right side of the pic over the collector:

                Definitely there...

Did the guys that built the pipes make it?

Thanks mate! Yeah I still find myself staring at 'em once in a while too when I should be doing something productive...

Thanks Daniel, although I can't take any credit, yep that was all Tranzac's awesome work I really like their style!

Won't know for sure til I ride it Josh... I still think it'll be ok because the pipe sits just above my ankle and just below my calf so I don't actually touch the pipe will sitting down, but that may change when cornering etc. so I'll just have to take her for a spin and see

If all else fails I'll just revisit earlier in this thread where we had all those ideas going for a neat heat shield...

I called the upholsterer today and told them of my screw up, and they agree that it shouldn't be hard to lift the rear of the cover and add some foam there to fix it.

The next time I get a chance will be Tuesday morning by the looks as I have a seminar all day tomorrow and work to start early Monday morning.

This time I'll do what I should've done the first time and take a piece of cardboard cut to the shape of the tail piece that marks the height of the seat pan against it... that might give them a fighting chance this time

Also, my order has apparently shipped today, and even though it's just coming from the Gold Coast I expect Australia Post not to have it to me until Monday, but at least that means I can get the chain on properly!

I was in doing some more of my "mystery" work tonight and couldn't help just sitting on the bike for a bit... man it's so nice to be sitting on it properly at last after all these years knowing that in a matter of weeks I'll be able to push that start button and go for a ride!!!

Man your one patient bloke...I would have redlined up and n down the street by now, but then again youve not been arrested for such shinanagins either.

maybe you should keep it that way...

I must agree with Woodsy on the shield.
Perhaps they could make a second shield from where the pipes join each other behind the cylinder back to the current shield.

                                True.
At least take it for a few miles around the hood.
