    (Re)Introduction/Project Thread 1982 GS 1100 EZ Resto-Mod

Alrighty then. A goodly portion of you may remember me, and my motorcycle. I've been in the process of restoring/modifying a 1982 GS 1100 E. My first bike (I know, I'm a crazy person) and one I'm probably (definitely, after the amount of money spent thus far alone!) going to have with me for the rest of my, or it's days. Along those lines, I'm going to be modifying it to suit me, ergonomically, aesthetically, and mechanically. I'll add posts later to bring this thread up to speed with the repairs/modifications I've done thus far, as I've done a pretty good job of photo-documenting the process. Those mods include, but are not limited to, (faulty memory, wot?) the items listed in my signature. I've yet to ride the bike with ANY of the mods. Last time I rode it, it only the Pirelli Sport Demons, which were a HUGE improvement, of themselves, and the Dynatek 3 ohms, and the Accel wires, which I don't really think improved performance at that point, but merely brought it back to normal levels. Anyways, I've been neglecting the bike's work due to a REALLY BAD case of musician's G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), but my prescription (Finally finished paying off my Jackson SL-1, and my Line 6 POD HD 500) is finally kicking in, and I'm ready to start dumping all my disposable income (really!) into bringing this bike up to the level that I see in my mind. Future mods/processes include, in no particular order:

    Adjustable Clubman Bar
Front Fork Brace (Leaning towards Tarozzi, for no particular reason)
Rear Sets (Leaning towards Tarozzi, for no particular reason)
Corbin Seat (You know the one!)
    Oberon Bar End LED Indicators
Oberon Mini LED Indicators, Front and Rear
Oberon 75mm Round Clamp On Bar End Mirrors
Some sort of 2K+ GSXR switchgear/lever perches/brake reservoir
    Adjustable Levers
KOSO RX-2N GP Style Gauge, 10k RPM Model
m-Lock RFID Ignition Switch (with a glass tube to sew into a glove)
m-Unit Electrical Control Unit (I'm really interested in this, looks neat!)
Dyna S/2000 Ignition (Haven't decided which, budgeted for the 2000)
    CompuFire Regulator
    Flash-to-Pass Garage Door Opener
    Belly Pan/Chin Scoop
    Frame Powdercoating
    Engine Paint
    Paint

That's the meat of it. I'll probably focus on ergonomics first (bar, controls, seat) in order to make the bike more comfortable, and then start adding the electrical bits one by one. I may end up trying a 5 3/4" dual headlight setup, along with a tiny windscreen (ala Speed/Street Triple), but I'm not sure if I can make it look right. Once all that's done, time tear it all apart to the nitty gritty and get her powdercoated and painted. Figure I should be able to do it in a little over a year, as long as I don't get sidetracked by any musical instruments. Then I reckon it'll be high time to start a new, smaller displacement project.

      Jackson SL-1

      POD HD500

These two items take up most of my non-wrenching free time.

I had the GAS not so long ago. Got the POD HD500 but I went for an American Telecaster over other guitars.

Even though I already have too many guitars, (Rickenbacker 360, Martin D-15, Epiphone Les Paul, and the aforementioned SL-1) there's a good chance Fender (they bought Jackson a few years back) is going to cause another hiccup in my plans later this year. They're being very low key about the Tele's 60th anniversary this year, and are issuing a 500 model run each month, with each guitar highlighting a signifigant model in Tele history. They've got a '62 Custom that I'm drooling over, white body, black pickguard, double-bound, rosewood fingerboard, block inlays. Fretboard radius is tiny, 7.5", just like in '62. Same with the pickups, and all the hardware. The jerks also just released a '57 Twin amp that's handwired(!) and loaded with Celestion Blues. Must...Not...Purchase....More.....Gear.....
