Thanks Ivor! I just need to get back to working on her soon. That will be after I get Stan's GK put back together and I get things in the garage all sorted. (Just got an 850 camshaft for it)

I bought a few things, two of which were to replace those that were too pitted for my tastes. (did I tell you I've learned to hate rust?)

Both pieces ended up being incorrect for my model year. The good news is, with a little modification they both can be used, plus I needed to buy good battery box 'padding' anyways. One of which, the electrics panel had to be modified anyways to use the SH-775-BA reg/rec I just bought for $46 shipped off of Ebay. No great loss on this end.

Pictures of the battery boxes. The one on the left is missing the holder for the TSCU.
the plan is to cut it off the old and weld it onto the newer'ish one.

Stay tuned... spring is just around the bend

                    That happened to me too

Now, about the 35 y/o hardened rubber bits... don't you hate those as well!

Ivor, I hate just about anything which doesn't resemble the way pieces came from the factory. I also hate what this sort of thinking has done to my pocketbook!

                      I need therapy...

Dale..I tried and tried to talk you out of it. Did I or did I not?????? I think she was the right bike for you though. Lesser capable hands wouldnt have done her justice. Maybe if I have the vacation time next summer I will bring mine up and we can ride up north and see if we can find Joe ( the guy we got it from ) and show him the newly resurrected version.

Chuck, I wouldn't necessarily say you tried to talk me out of it, but you did emphasize repeatedly how rough a condition it was in.

I never hesitated when you asked me if I wanted it either.

Again, I've enjoyed every minute I spent working on it and yes, we shall take a ride to show him it.

I thought fixing old bikes WAS the therapy!

That's how they sold it to me anyways

                              It is therapy!

Cut off a un-needed bracket on my new electrics panel in order to test fit a series SH775BA R/R.

Cut apart the the old battery box with a hack saw and used a die grinder to remove the needed TSCU bracket so I could convert this 79 "L" box into an "E" box.

And the two shall become one... (even kept the external spot welds by cutting it from the inside )
