Be sure to get the residual paint off this time..if that was the cause of the other problem with the frame..MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Dale,
I must apologize as I only picked up on your thread today. I think I need a bit of an oil change or a tuneup as this is not the first time I have missed important things!
That is excellent work you are doing. I definitely do not have the patience you have!
Its amazing how "new" any bike looks if the frame is done and how poor a newly painted bike can look with a ratty frame or is it only me.
Now I am subscribed and will keep an eye on you.

I'm pleased with how it turned out so far. still you can bet I will be replacing a few parts that were rusted a bit badly.

Ed, Pete, thanks! it really does look that shiny in person. it has about the same amount of peel as the average new car has. still I think I've met the limit to what I can do with the 1.4mm tip on my knock off. in order for me to take it to the next level, I'm going to need to go to a 1.2~1.3mm tip. unfortunately, they don't make one for my astro.

More shiney bits I have accumulated in the past year
Gifts, purchases, special deals and help finding things with the help of GRS forum members. ***note*** not all items are shown!
Sedelen (Steve) clip for tail piece, rust free tool holder and strap, foot pegs and finding a GOOD owners manual for me. (not to mention all the TSCU's)
Wazz (Greg) gifts from His and Tina's GS1000 which will be worn proudly! (and a gauge cluster not shown)
Srsupertrapp (Steve) beautiful chrome bits and brake hoses. (the other pipe is in the basement)
Chuck_Hahn (Chuck) enough rust free bolts, brackets, chrome, triple tree, rotors, calipers, forks, wheel, ect. to make your head swim! (as close to free as I'd ever get!)
some of the things I've had from the '80, ebay or purchased off this board.
But WAIT! there's more... like nessism (Ed)'s wheel (to be continued...)Last edited by rustybronco; 08-28-2011, 10:20 PM.
