    80's gs450L (start to finish rebuild)

    Hello, I recently purchased my first bike. The bike just so happened to be a gs450l. I would like to share this build with you all and also the pictures to go with.

    This is her still in the old man garage.


    Getting some fresh air after being in the garage since 1986!



    tore both carbs down and renewed all necessary parts. also upgraded jets to 125s if i remember correctly.


    carbs all back together and fresh paint and all new allen hardware.


    In the meantime my pile of parts......


    frame back from sandblast and powdercoat.


    rebuild and polished forks.


    now for a cool part... custom paint professionally painted and cleared. gloss black base with a nice metallic blue faded into black.



    going back together/mock up.


    fully assembled and running!!!!

      Very pretty job. How does it ride and why'd you increase the jets on it(if they weren't 115 or 120 per the stock sizes)?

        Looks pretty good. I love the paint and LED's. I am going to switch the blue ones under my tank to red ones. It will match my accent color.

          She rides great. Smooth and decently powerful. As for the jets I believe they were 115 factory in my bike and when at suzuki for new jets they said its jetted so lean from factory that two sizes bigger would run a little richer and possibly produce marginal if any power gains. I believe the jets were 125s and idle and throttle response seems smoother but cant say for sure. And the gf is proud of the leds she's the one that did the work with my instruction.

              Thanks. He paints bumpers at the dealer I work for. He is damn good and it only cost me 60 bucks and half a Saturday of prep.
