Haven't worked on the bike or updated this thread in some time due to my mom passing away last month from late stage cancer. Getting back to it now, so here's a photo of where things stand. Finally got the new tires aired up without tubes, replaced all of the wheel and steering neck bearings. New rear brake shoes, polished up all of the chrome pieces, etc..

Need to start getting into the motor now. It looks to need a top end refresh just to clean things up and re-time/re-seal. Also need to reseal and polish the side covers, inspect the clutch and stator, etc, and clean/repair/replace as necessary. Motor appears to be in solid shape otherwise, so not anticipating needing to go into the case for anything unless I see something once the cylinder and side covers come off. Here's a photo of it before disassembly.

I Have Been to St Augustine

Thanks for updating us and my deepest condolences for your loss.

Hey, I didn't realize you were in St Augustine. I was just there this past weekend. I hit up the Winery/Distillery/A1A Brewery and went for a swim on the Auggie Beach. I might just go there this Memorial Day wknd.

Well, keep up with the updates!

This is the main reason I got my second "T". At some point, I will tear down my parts bike and put it back together. What a joy that will be.

Have a friend in St. Augustine. Was a coworker here in NC until he retired. Owned his own Yamaha dealer for 20 or 30 years, but he's kind of a really weird guy. If he sees a GS he may give ya a hard time about it, he used to give me hell about mine (he's a diehard yamaha guy). I think he's on a Green Star Bolt, WR250R and probably a Zuma these days. His son works at some Yamaha shop in the area down there. His name is Steve if you see him. I used to live in Cocoa and worked in Palmbay at Cons cycle center/House of power, but that's been many years ago.

                        Hey Mike,

I'm still up here in JAX hanging out at 3 different breweries. I haven't forgotten about getting some beers in St Augustine.

Will do Mike. Been hanging at Jax Beach and the breweries called the Green Room, World of Beers, and Zeta's.

I bought the Gin & Vodka from the Distillery in St Augustine and the Cream Sherry & Castillo Red from San Sebastian Winery. I'm really liking this romantic town.

Mike, sorry I showed up in St Augustine un-announced. We'll catch up next time for a beer at A1A Ale House.

So, what's been going on with your bike?

Its all good Ed, sorry I couldn't break away from what I was into to come join you. Believe me, I'd much rather have been hanging out drinking cold ones with you in air-conditioned comfort than doing yard work under a blazing sun...

Other than attaching a few more bits to the frame, I haven't done much else to the bike in recent weeks. Mostly because I've been catching up on some overdue house projects and yard work...

A friend is painting my tank now, and the side covers have been buffed out, so that stuff will be ready to go. I've been holding off on tearing into the motor until I get ahead of some things I have to take care of with my mom's estate. Don't want to open up the motor and then let it sit for a length of time, that's a recipe for disaster...

Btw, I may be in your neck of the woods this weekend attending a car show Saturday morning if I can get an early start. It's at the Times-Union near the Landing on Saturday morning from 8AM to 11AM.
