    getting my 83 750 going.

Hey whats up, new member here. i have a 83 750e i got a few years ago. i got a week off work and i decided its time to finally get this done. just a bit ago i finished changing out the shock cause its missing the adjuster for the rate or preload, dunno, and the knob its got i think is messed up... just replaced it from one off ebay.

when i first got the bike i hated the seat and i thought it would look cooler as a single so i chopped like 6 inches out the the middle of the frame and welded the back, back on. i wanted to keep that line going in the frame up the tail. i think it looks pretty racy.

so... whats left to do is re-attach the rear brake cylinder, i lost the bolts somewhere, lol. cut the side cover tabs off the tank and clean up that and a dent with bondo, install new exhaust, and re-shape the seat foam and cover with vinyl i have. bleed the brakes, i bought speed bleeders so thatll be cool... and some other stuff like an oil and filter change. hopefully i can get it all done by monday

    Welcome to the site, mrrcom.
Sounds like an ambitious agenda of repairs.
What exhaust are you putting on and hopefully you still have the stock airbox so you won't have to mess with jetting.

If you are putting the stock airbox back in (which is a good idea) it will be quite the ordeal. Ask me how I know....

Trust me, the stock airbox on those is terrible. I ran k/n filters and a one size bigger main jet with a yosh pipe.

The bike came without it the airbox, unfortunately. Ive read with tuning problems when going to pods but i bought the dyno jet kit for use with a 4 into exhaust. the bike came with pods but the jets and stuff were all factory sizes. I have exp with jetting carbs from working on a yamaha v-star i had. Since ive gotten this bike i disassembled the carbs, dipped them, switched the jets out per instructions and bench synced them with a feeler gauge. minus the syncing they should be good to go.

ive read that there is a part of the electricals that goes out... the rectifier? its been a long time since ive looked into anything about the bike really but i hope the wiring is all good. the battery is new and the fuses are good.

when i was replacing the shock i noticed a wheel weight on the rim and i remembered i didnt take them off when i replaced the tires. i bought those balancing beads. ive never used them before but they were used in my dads bike, a goldwing, and rides normal like you wouldnt know the difference.

So im pretty disheartened how the whole seat covering thing went. i couldnt even get the vinyl wrinkle free around the whole seat. this whole time i was thinking that trying to find a way to mount the seat to the frame would be the hard part and covering this would be easy. i gotta figure something out... lol maybe itll keep it from getting stolen

so i guess all thats left is wiring in the new turn signals, the originals were all broke, install the new petcock(new fuel tube/filter too), and install the front fairing.... oooh and i need to cut off those tabs on the tank and smooth the area. anyone need side covers? lol
