hehe I own that grey box by Joe's knee as well as the bike...

The bike looks in much better shape in those pics than when I got it. Thanks for sharing.

Once it was a whole machine again, the starter was toast. No brushes left in it. I think there was at least 5 of us that had a hand in that thing that night. Was fun really. Was really great to see his face light up when we got it push started, and he rode out of the parking lot. Who's that goofy looking bald guy just standing around drinking beer?!?

Yeah I think it's had new shocks, new fork springs (or maybe a new set of forks, I remember a story about something funny with the forks) a new stator & a Shindengen RR since then.

I got it basically stripped to the cases with head & jugs off and lots of surface rust but most of the bit required to fix it. I hope he's still having a blast over in Hawaii...!

Hey Dan, can you talk about what exhaust you got on there?
I think you said it's a Delkevic 4:1? I'm considering that myself, mostly for less weight and a boost in power.
My only problem is I regret removing the working perfectly OEM dual exhaust.
          Thanks.

Yeah that one is a Delkevic. It came with an L pipe which didn’t fit great (was holding off the centre stand) and someone on here wanted it...
I haven’t fired it up yet so I don’t know what it sounds like... I’m somewhat of an expert on 4:1’s Having had a Yoshi, V&H, Bassani in the past and currently got a marving race and the Delkevic.

Ive also ridden bikes with a couple of others... my favorite sounding so far is probably equal between the yosh and the marving. I like the fit of the marving better.

The Delkevic seems reasonable quality, I don’t really like the “each head pipe is separate” thing but I guess plenty do it that way and it seems sold now fitted.

I’ll shoot some video when I get it fired up. Hopefully that will be in the next two weeks, bit of a busy time for me right now.

Paint finished apart from cut back & polish... bike started. Seems pretty good. Fuel T was leaking but has swelled up and stopped now. Carb 4 has a blocked Idle jet passage I think but in general it sounds really healthy & not smoking at all!

Well she went back together yesterday. I haven't cur & polished the paint yet or put the badges on but I wanted to ride it.....

I took it out for a handful of miles to get some gas. Pretty good. Plenty of "oomph" at least as much as the Skunk (although at first feel the gearing feels a little lower than what I have on the skunk currently).

I have some popping when backing off the throttle, not sure if that is due to a partially blocked carb (No.4 was not firing at low throttle when I was syncing it) or the Delkevic. I have sea foam in this tank & will run it through & see what happens before I do anything else. I didn't check the jet sizes but I'm sure they are stock. I wouldn't expect to have to up them with the pipe only but maybe the needle needs raising a bit....

Other than that... It blew the signals fuse at the gas station. Not sure why, hoping it's just an old fuse. Fine once I replaced it with a new 10amp. I guess I'll see next time I take it out.

Anyone got a solution for this? Engine is off in this pic!

                  Very clean conservative look.
BTW, with no pipes on the left, both the side and center stand foot steps do stick out more than needed.
Have you considered ways to cut and weld them so they're tight to the frame when up?

It's never bothered me on the skunk so I doubt I'll worry about it on this one. It could be done pretty easily though I would think.

What's your plan for it? Ride it I hope.

BTW, Joe found me on GolfWRX and we've been trading some PM's there. He's still in Hawaii and loving it (and playing golf again.)

Nice! Glad he's doing alright! I've used his dad's clubs for a couple of rounds since he left. They're better than mine. I just sold the KLR - it's not been picked up yet, it's going to Texas. Going to ride this one a bit & make some decisions later... I'm thinking of getting a lighter dual sport next
