Today was spent cleaning a ton of bolts and other parts. Then broke down the shocks to clean and polish the parts and the springs. Put the steering stem and forks on, the center stand and side stand bracket, serviced swing arm bearings and hung swing arm, put bars on and ended the day with a roller.

Tomorrows plan is to get the lower end in the frame. And im sure theres plenty more to do. I will do rims one at a time when that time arrives.

Today I started of with a visit to the dealership to place an order for a bunch of grommets, bolts for headlight bucket, screws for cam end covers, and tires....left 365 bucks lighter. Then i got to gluing foam pads in the battery box, rebuilding rear master cylinder, derusting a ton more hardware, and adding electrical panel and some of the electrics. I also made a ground wire that goes to one of the bolts to the starter selinoid. I have had bad grounding to the selinoid and find that a simple ground wire straight to the battery cures this.

Still have clutch friction discs and the rear half of the back fender awaiting arrival. I have got just about everything except chain and sprockets ordered. I will be waiting till the very last to do the dirtiest part..polishing covers and fork lowers. Good times!!!

Amen to that chuck and also being 56 years young I struggle getting up after picking up the socket/spanner/nut due to most of the above and osteoarthritis for good measure, still when I'm on the GS nothing hurts as I'm smiling so much.

                          Hey Chuck,

Not to hijack your thread but, what are your thoughts on the Harbor Freight lift table. Been thinking about getting one but have heard very mixed reviews. How is it working for you and your needs?

Of course, I have to make some room in the garage first!

I like them. Ive heard people complain about "they Wobble". Yes they do tend to wiggle some back and forth as your pumping the foot pedal to raise it but its not of any danger or a condition indicating weakness of the lift itself.

Today began with a trip to the bone yard where i got a 100% complete airbox. The rubber connector tube between tge upper and lower parts was still soft and had both clamp bands. Snagged a tool kit from under the seat of an 82 1100GL too..everything for 75 bucks.
Then came wet sanding and paint for the front half of rear fender and soldering 3 pinholes in the tank off Penelope that i bought from Dale. Took a burr and smoothed off the solder clumps, wet sanded smooth with some 400, and water tested for leaks...none to be had. Acid bathed the inside, dried, and applied the POR15.
