    Easing Stiff Steering

I have had a problem with very stiff steering. Only was to resolve it was to grease the bearings, but there are no fittings. Checked the manual and it appeared I had to remove the forks to do the job.

Found a way that works, though, and it takes only minutes.

Removed the ignition cover, loosened the side bolt and removed the main bolt.

Squirted a stream of air-dry professional EP grease into the hole.
(It goes in liquid, then sets up as extreme pressure grease as the solvent evaporates)

Only had a squirt nozzle on that can and wanted the top bearings done too. Took a spray can of white lithium grease, with a 5 inch nozzle extension and pushed it in the hold at the bottom of the forks and squirted it upwards, moving it around to hit as much as possible.

The greases seem to have penetrated the bearings and done the job......HUGE improvement in the steering.

    Replaced and re-torqued the bolts.
