Spark plug cap 5K resistor substitution.

The image is pretty much self explanatory.
you can use it for a substitute when one or more of your plug cap resistors go south.
also, you could add a spot of solder to the coiled ends if you would like to.

cut a piece of brass rod the same diameter and length as the resistor and use in place of them.. thats whats running in all my bikes..I think NESSISM told me of that trick..

I used a cut down ball point pen spring and resistor plugs.

I know for a fact on my 550L, that I don't have resistors in the spark plug leads. P.O. replaced all the caps with generic metal clips and silicone boots. What is the function of the resistor inline with the sparkplug? And is it necessary on ALL bikes? If so, I need to go pick up some resistors!

The function of the resistor is to suppress the "spark" noise generated by the secondary portion of an ignition system. usually it's used to reduce the interference on an AM radio or to protect some electronic circuits/components.

The main reason is RFI suppression. I tried running mine with no resistors and ran into problems with RFI getting back into the ignitor circuitry. It ran like crap. I now run NGK resistor caps and also NGK Iridium resistor plugs. All my problems with spark went away.
